The main tool set contains a complete set of 9 special tools necessary for determining the timing phases on M60 engines and the camshaft, as well as for adjusting the VANOS timing phases on M62 engines. The set includes the following:
Camshaft alignment fixtures: two camshaft alignment fixtures to secure the camshafts in the TDC position during assembly.
Chain tensioning device with a rigid frame: for tensioning the primary chain.
M60 crankshaft pin: Top dead center pin for aligning the flywheel in the TDC position - for M60 engines.
M62 crankshaft pin: Top dead center pin for aligning the flywheel in the TDC position - for M62 engines.
Locking springs for the secondary chain tensioner: used to lock the timing chain tensioners in the retracted position (2 pcs included).
M62 chain tensioning bracket crosspiece: used to provide a mounting point for the rigid tool for chain tensioning when the front timing cover is removed from the engine for maintenance.
Timing chain, maintenance of VANOS components, or adjustment of timing phases.
M62 VANOS synchronization tool: two fixtures to secure the sensor wheels in place during the synchronization of M62 engines equipped with the VANOS system.
M62 VANOS rotation/adjustment socket: a special socket used to rotate the VANOS cam phase during assembly and adjustment of the timing phases of M62 engines.
VANOS solenoid valve socket: A special deep thin-walled 32 mm socket required for removing the solenoid valve on 6- and 8-cylinder engines equipped with
