When first warming up the soldering iron, apply a bit of tin to the tip of the spearhead and remove the excess, for example, with brass shavings. The resulting layer of tin protects against oxidation. It is good practice to tin the spearhead every time you finish a job. Note ! Cob soldering irons powered directly from a wall outlet should have a plug with a grounding pin and should be powered from a grounded outlet. Lack of grounding of the metal housing of the heater is a risk of electrocution, which in the best case will end up in burns.
