A hydrofor is a crucial component of an effective and efficient water system powered by a domestic water pump.

What is a Hydrofor?

A hydrofor is essentially a pressure tank that, along with other elements of the hydraulic system such as the pump, pressure switch, and valves, maintains the proper pressure in the water pipes. Using a hydrofor prevents the pump from turning on excessively every time you open a tap. If you notice a pulsating flow of water when you turn on the tap, it means that the hydraulic system does not have a steady water pressure. This pulsation occurs because the pump is repeatedly turning on and off. To avoid this, a well-designed hydraulic system uses a hydrofor with a pressure tank containing compressed air and a water "bladder" to maintain consistent water pressure. The water pump only activates when there is a drop in water pressure in the system, which significantly extends its lifespan. Additionally, you benefit from consistent water pressure and quieter operation since the pump runs less frequently.

The DEDRA DED8877 hydrofor is powered by a 1200W pump operating on 230V, the standard household voltage. It features an integrated water pump with a flow rate of 3800 l/h, ensuring steady and uniform water pressure. The hydrofor includes a 19-liter steel tank, and the pressure switch maintains the water pressure in the system (1.5-3 bar), activating the pump when needed. The built-in manometer allows for pressure monitoring.

The hydrofor and water pump are connected via a 1.2m power cable. The base of the hydrofor includes feet with mounting holes for secure attachment to surfaces.
